Does the KORAIL Pass save you money over point-to-point KTX tickets in KRW (₩)? Add the high-speed KTX and ITX train legs on your South Korea itinerary below. The calculator compares your total point-to-point fare in Korean Won (₩) against the KORAIL Pass (2, 3, 4, or 5 days — both Consecutive and Select/Flexible passes, plus the Saver Pass discount for 2–5 travelers booking together).
KORAIL Pass Rules Every Visitor Should Know
- Unlike European rail passes, KTX fares are fixed: Point-to-point KTX prices in South Korea do not surge at the last minute. A Seoul → Busan KTX Economy ticket costs ₩59,800 whether you book 30 days ahead or 20 minutes before departure (provided seats remain available).
- Point-to-point usually wins for a single round-trip: A simple Seoul ↔ Busan round-trip costs ₩119,600 total, which is cheaper than the 2-Day Select KORAIL Pass (₩138,000 Adult / ₩128,000 Saver). However, if you add Gyeongju, Jeonju, Gangneung, or Yeosu—or make a same-day KTX return—the KORAIL Pass pays off.
- Does not cover SRT or city subways: The KORAIL Pass is valid on KORAIL KTX, KTX-Sancheon, KTX-Eum, ITX-Saemaeul, ITX-Cheongchun, and Mugunghwa trains (including 2 free Economy seat reservations per day), but does not cover Suseo SRT trains, the AREX airport train, or city metro lines (use a T-money card for subways and buses).
